The yarn behind NikkiDeeDesigns

I've always been very creative growing up & art became my healing, my story, my memories became my artwork. I remember as a young girl the connection to the ocean & a lot of family memories of my Mum, Dad & my brothers and my cousins, Aunties & Uncles. My Dad inspires me a lot; he was a proper Saltwater Man.

Stories woven in paint

I focus more on my own stories, my memories at special places in and around Geraldton. I feel a deep connection to places I visited growing up, walking the reef & collecting periwinkles which I now paint about. I also teach my Son about the places we visit now as I become a Mum, sharing what I was taught to create new memories.

My heritage, my art

Being Aboriginal has taught me about family connection. The land, sea, rivers & the stars are important to me. There is such a big connection to my spirit to where I come from. I am from Yamaji Country & this is my home, my special place. Connection is not just to a physical place, but to my spiritual mind of a place & time that no longer exists, but has long been a part of my family & where I come from.

"Nikki Dee Designs beautifully captures the essence of her heritage, creating art that tells a compelling story and connects deeply with the viewer."
